It’s surprising that the Green Lantern hasn’t received a successful live-action adaptation yet. Despite efforts in 2011 with director Martin Campbell and a talented cast led by Ryan Reynolds, the movie was a critical and financial failure. Since then, the Green Lantern has only made a brief appearance in Justice League and hasn’t been featured in any other DC live-action projects. However, the character has found success in animated television shows like Justice League and Green Lantern: The Animated Series. DC Studios CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are now taking the Green Lanterns to the small screen with a new serialized television show called Lanterns. The show will feature both Hal Jordan and John Stewart as the Green Lanterns and will follow a detective story that will have major consequences for the rest of the DC Universe. This buddy-cop-style show has been in development for some time and is finally being brought to life by Gunn and Safran. More information about Lanterns is expected to be revealed soon.
